How Margin is Calculated

MyFXBook Formula:

Required Margin = (Contract Size × Current Price × Lot Size) ÷ Leverage

The margin calculation follows MyFXBook's methodology. For currency pairs where your account currency is the quote currency, the formula is straightforward. For other pairs, currency conversion is applied.

Important Notes:

  • Standard Lot = 100,000 units of base currency
  • Mini Lot = 10,000 units of base currency
  • Micro Lot = 1,000 units of base currency
  • Margin requirements vary by broker and instrument
  • Higher leverage means lower margin but higher risk
  • Always maintain sufficient free margin to avoid margin calls
